KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has postponed its Bagmati Province Convention, citing technical issues regarding the election process.
According to the party’s Central Election Commission, the polling process was put on hold to rectify errors discovered on the ballot papers and to conduct a final technical verification of the voters’ list.
The commission added that the delay would also allow them to deploy additional human resources to the provincial election committee to ensure a smoother voting process.
Following the disruption, the election committee called off all scheduled events and ordered the venue to be cleared. Acting on the committee’s directive, police personnel subsequently cleared the convention site.
The committee has not yet announced a new date for the election.
Prior to the postponement, Achutam Lamichhane (the outgoing president), Utsav Aryal, Hari Khatri, and Krishnaman Shakya were in a four-way race for the leadership of the Bagmati Province committee.
