KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) commenced 15 minutes later than its scheduled time today.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the lower house is set to hold group discussions on the budget allocation headings of nine ministries under the Appropriation Bill, 2026.
The ministries slated for discussion in today’s session include the Ministry of Youth, Labour, and Employment; the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies; the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environment; the Ministry of Information and Communications; the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation; the Ministry of Education and Sports; the Ministry of Health and Food Safety; the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs, and General Administration; and the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security.
As per the agenda, 12 lawmakers are scheduled to table proposals seeking a symbolic “token cut” to reduce the budgeted expenditure of various ministries to one rupee.
The lawmakers presenting these cut motions are Krishnaram Rana, Parvati BK, Jog Kumar Barbaria, Santosh Subba, Nita Ghatani, Parshuram Tamang, Arjun Kumar Karki, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Sajida Khatun Siddiqui, Yuvraj Dulal, and Eshuda Kumari Baral.
Additionally, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal is scheduled to present a proposal to alter the membership and reshuffle names within various thematic committees under the House of Representatives during today’s meeting.
