KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police Cyber Bureau on Monday arrested 61-year-old Pradhuman Shrestha from Satungal, Kathmandu, for allegedly defaming Member of Parliament Khusbu Oli on social media.

The arrest follows a complaint filed by MP Oli against nearly three dozen individuals, accusing them of using derogatory and inappropriate language on her Facebook posts to damage her reputation.

The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Shrestha in custody for four days, and the Cyber Bureau is conducting further investigations.

Khusbu Oli serves as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) under the proportional representation system.
