BARA: Eleven passengers were injured, one of them critically, when a bus overturned on the Birgunj–Pathlaiya road section at Nitanpur Chowk in Jitpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City-10 on Saturday morning.
Police said the accident occurred around 11:00 AM when the bus (Na 7 Kha 235), heading from Birgunj to Saptari, lost control while overtaking another vehicle and overturned on the highway.
The injured include passengers from Saptari, Parsa, Siraha, Bara, and Rautahat districts, along with the bus co-driver. Among them are Kamlesh Yadav, Rubi Yadav, and Shivani Yadav of Saptari; Ram Naresh Prasad and Dhananjay Prasad Chaurasiya of Parsa; and others including Chinilal Shrestha, Chandra Tamang, and Dipa Ghimire.
Most of the injured have been taken to National Medical College and Tarai Hospital in Birgunj, while those with minor injuries are receiving treatment at local health facilities.
Police said the bus driver fled the scene after the accident. A search operation has been launched, and further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
