BIRTAMOD: A 23-year-old Nepali youth from Birtamod, Jhapa, died in a road accident in Bagdogra, West Bengal, India on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Amit Choudhary, son of local businessman Bharat Choudhary of Birtamod-5.

According to Indian police, the accident occurred around 5 pm while he was returning from Siliguri to Nepal. He was driving a Nepali-registered vehicle (Bagmati Province 01-032 Cha 1680) when he reportedly lost control near the Sanyasi Sthan tea garden area and crashed into a tree, splitting the car into two due to the impact.

He was rushed to Galaxy Hospital in Bagdogra but died around 8 pm despite treatment. Authorities are completing legal procedures before handing over the body to the family.
