KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested Karma Tsering Sherpa, the former president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), on charges of fraud and criminal breach of trust.
Sherpa is accused of abusing his position as chief executive of the Hattigaunda-based Trungram International Academy to embezzle Rs 87,830,000 for personal enrichment.
According to the CIB, he used intimidation and undue influence to illicitly transfer over 29 ropanis of school land in Dadhikot, Bhaktapur, to his own company.
Additionally, he allegedly misappropriated funds earmarked for school vehicles to purchase property and assets under his own corporate umbrella.
Although initial complaints against the Nepali Congress-affiliated official were sidelined two years ago, the CIB launched its investigation and made the arrest following a direct court order.
