KATHMANDU: Under its mega campaign against illegal drugs, the Koshi Province Police today arrested five individuals and initiated necessary investigations after recovering 795 kilograms of marijuana, 6 grams and 10 milligrams of brown sugar, a mini-truck, and a motorcycle from their possession.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yogendra Singh Thapa, spokesperson for the Koshi Province Police Office, a security team from the Area Police Office in Bhedetar, Dhankuta, intercepted a suspicious mini-truck (Ko 1 Kha 4635) at Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-6 and discovered 775 kg of marijuana concealed in 25 plastic bundles beneath potato sacks, leading to the arrest of the driver, 33-year-old Parikshan Kunwar of Itahari, Sunsari.
Additionally, the Area Police Office in Rajarani arrested 24-year-old Bisesh Rai of Sangurigadhi-5 with 20 kg of marijuana and a motorcycle (Ba 64 Pa 1435).
Spokesperson Thapa further informed that Bikul Rai and Gyanendra BK of Sundarharaicha-6 were arrested by the Gachhiya Police Post in Morang with 3 grams and 500 milligrams of brown sugar, while Pradeep Mandal of Patharishanishchare-6 was apprehended by the Area Police Office in Pathari with 2 grams and 510 milligrams of the same contraband.
