KATHMANDU: Opposition parties, including the CPN (UML) and Nepali Congress, strongly protested against the current government during a House of Representatives session, accusing it of failing the public and engaging in retaliatory politics.
CPN (UML) lawmaker Sajida Khatun Siddiqui urged the Prime Minister to act as the “leader of the nation, not the streets,” warning that the government faces imminent failure unless it addresses urgent economic struggles, inflation and ongoing border disputes in Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Susta.
Concurrently, Nepali Congress lawmaker Khadak Bahadur Budha demanded an impartial investigation into multi-billion rupee irregularities surrounding passport printing contracts, alleging that officials were pressured to bypass cheaper supply rates.
Budha also condemned administrative overreach, specifically criticizing the government for intimidating and compromising the independence of constitutional bodies like the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
