KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa criticized the current Balendra Shah-led RSP government, accusing it of bypassing legal procedures and violating laws under the pretext of delivering quick results.
Speaking at a review meeting marking the government’s first 100 days at the party headquarters in Sanepa, Thapa compared the current administration’s style to the 2018 KP Oli government, stating that it prioritizes social media popularity (“likes”) over the actual lives of citizens.
He cited the forceful demolition of squatter settlements with bulldozers as an example, arguing it was done for online clout rather than solving the issue legally.
In another context, Thapa praised Prime Minister Shah for shifting governance back to Singha Durbar and refusing to hold cabinet meetings or official briefings at the PM’s private residence in Baluwatar.
