KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday arrested four individuals on charges of defrauding victims of Rs 3.238 million by promising them attractive jobs in various foreign countries.
According to the Nepal Police Newsroom, those arrested are 32-year-old Puja Shahi of Kathmandu Metropolitan City–17, 20-year-old Deepak Sah of Bodebarsain Municipality–3 in Saptari, 41-year-old Jay Mangal Prasad Nisad of Basbariya Rural Municipality–3 in Sarlahi, and 37-year-old Mina Shrestha of Manthali Municipality–3 in Ramechhap.
Police stated that Shahi allegedly swindled Rs 1.7 million from one individual with promises of sending them to the United Kingdom, Sah took Rs 500,000 under the pretext of sending a person to France, Nisad collected Rs 438,000 promising passage to Brunei, and Shrestha cheated another victim of Rs 600,000 on the pretext of sending them to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
