CHITWAN: Vehicular movement along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section has been partially restored for emergency and light vehicles following a dry landslide near Khahare Khola in Icchakamana Rural Municipality-7 earlier today.

According to a notice issued by Road Division Bharatpur at 11:30 AM, heavy machinery was deployed to clear the debris, allowing one-way traffic to resume after the road was initially blocked in both directions.

The incident occurred unexpectedly when dry earth and rocks tumbled down from a new hill roughly 40 meters above the road, covering a 20-meter stretch about 700 meters from Muglin Bazaar toward Narayangadh.

The sudden rockfall disrupted major traffic along the arterial route during the morning hours.

Engineers at the scene faced significant challenges during early clearance efforts due to continuous falling rocks.

Engineer Arjun Ghimire from the Division Road Office noted that workers managed to clear enough debris earlier in the morning to allow emergency vehicles to pass safely.

“Three heavy machines are actively clearing the landslide,” the Division Road Office stated in its notice. “If no further landslides occur, we expect to clear the remaining debris by this afternoon to allow all stranded vehicles through. In the meantime, we request all waiting passengers to remain patient.”

Authorities have also warned that because the landslide initiated from a newly unstable slope, the location poses an ongoing risk of further landslides during the monsoon season.
