All-side meeting held for maintaining religious harmony

JANAKPURDHAM: An all-side meeting here has expressed commitment to prevent any harm to social harmony and religious tolerance in Dhanusha district.

The all-side ‘harmony meeting’ was held in the district today in the context of the incident that happened in Sunsari district and a similar sensitive incident occurring in Dhanusha district as well.

The meeting has decided that legal action will be taken against individuals involved in activities like vandalism, arson, and damaging private or government property in the name of protests.

It also decided to control activities that spread hatred and religious bigotry towards each other and disrupt social harmony through social networks like Facebook and TikTok.

Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel said that community leaders, civil society members, intellectuals, political parties, various organizations, and local representatives have decided in the meeting to take initiatives from respective side to maintain mutual harmony and friendly relations among different religions, ethnic groups, languages, and communities.

The meeting also decided that anyone involved in criminal activities will be dealt with according to the National Penal Code, 2017, the Electronic Transactions Act, 2006, and other applicable laws.

Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City, Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, as well as representatives from the Hindu and Muslim communities, political party representatives, journalists, and others were present in the all-side meeting.
