KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has urged non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) to invest in the development of their motherland.

During a virtual discussion with young Nepali entrepreneurs in Australia on Saturday, Minister Wagle assured them that both the government and the party remain firm in their belief that “once a Nepali, always a Nepali,” according to his private secretariat.

Highlighting that non-resident Nepalis serve as goodwill ambassadors for the country, the Finance Minister encouraged them to fulfill their duties toward their homeland.

He emphasized that the current government is dedicated to national economic development and expects continued support and cooperation from the diaspora.

He further urged investors to invest with confidence, pointing out that industry-friendly policies—including tax and revenue reforms—have been implemented through the budget to revitalize the economy.

The Finance Minister also clarified that returns on investments can be repatriated smoothly.

“From the government’s end, we have introduced transformative concepts such as NRN bonds, offshore bonds, and alternative financing mechanisms to facilitate and expand your investments in Nepal,” Minister Wagle said.
