HoR Finance Committee discusses NRB Act amendment bill

KATHMANDU: The Finance Committee of the House of Representatives has held discussions with representatives of concerned bodies regarding the bill formulated to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002.

During today’s meeting of the committee, discussions were held with officials from the Nepal Bankers’ Association and the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN) regarding the bill, informed Laxman Aryal, Secretary of the Committee.

Representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and Nepal Rastra Bank were also present during the discussion.

The government had registered the bill in the Federal Parliament on May 25, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the bill was drafted to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act as it is desirable to make the country’s monetary and financial system more robust, credible, and contemporary.
