KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a discussion today with representatives of the private sector regarding industry, business, the investment climate, and economic reforms.
During the discussion held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Shah engaged in detailed talks on vitalizing and strengthening the country’s economic activities, making business operations easier, creating an investment-friendly environment, removing policy and procedural hurdles, boosting private sector morale, generating employment, and increasing production.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shah noted that the private sector is a crucial partner to the government in the nation’s economic development, investment expansion, job creation, and production growth.
He added that the government is fully prepared to resolve the practical problems being faced by industrialists and entrepreneurs.
He expressed his commitment to prioritizing necessary policy, legal, and administrative reforms to create an environment friendly to industry and the private sector.
During the meeting, private sector representatives offered suggestions regarding industry and business promotion, investment expansion, policy stability, simplification of service delivery, and the necessity of regular, results-oriented dialogue between the government and the private sector.
Prime Minister Shah stated that he took the received suggestions seriously and assured that necessary facilitation and reform work would be carried out through the relevant agencies.
He clarified that the government would work hand-in-hand with the private sector in its economic reform campaign.
The discussion saw the participation of Anjan Shrestha, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI); Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of the Industry Committee; Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Immediate Past President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) along with Director General Ghanshyam Ojha; Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce; and Senior Vice President Deepak Malhotra.
It is believed that this high-level discussion with the heads and officials of representative institutions of the private sector will help promote the country’s industry and business, improve the investment climate, foster collaboration between the government and the private sector, and support private sector-friendly policymaking.
