KATHMANDU: Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with Norway’s Ambassador to Nepal, Dagny Mjøs on Wednesday at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur.

During the meeting, discussions were held on Nepal–Norway bilateral relations, shared interests, and various dimensions of cooperation between the two countries.

Vice President Yadav noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1973, Nepal and Norway have maintained friendly and cordial ties.

He stated that democracy, human rights, and social justice are common values shared by both nations. Emphasizing Nepal’s development priorities, he said Nepal places high importance on its relationship with Norway as a development partner.

He also appreciated Norway’s support in areas such as renewable energy, education, and governance, calling it highly beneficial for Nepal.

Praising Norway’s role in peacekeeping and its contribution to global issues such as climate change, Yadav expressed confidence that bilateral relations would grow stronger in the coming days.

He also extended best wishes to the Norwegian people on the occasion of Norway’s Constitution and National Day on May 17.

On the occasion, Ambassador Mjøs wished for peace, stability, and prosperity in Nepal and reiterated Norway’s commitment to continued cooperation in education, energy, governance, and human rights.

She also expressed Norway’s readiness to collaborate on issues included in Nepal’s recently announced 100-point commitment document.

Ambassador Mjøs further stated that the two countries could expand cooperation even in international forums in the future.
