KATHMANDU: The trailer for Elephants in the Fog has been released following the film’s selection in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. Written and directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, the film explores the impact of wild elephant attacks on a marginalized settlement and a mother’s desperate search for her missing child.

The trailer depicts terrified villagers seeking police help amid recurring elephant violence while highlighting themes of displacement, fear, and survival. The production team said the film represents the struggles of a minority family living under constant threat from wild elephants.

The cast includes Pushpa Thing, Dipika Yadav, Jasmin Bishwakarma, Alize Ghimire, Joel Gurung, Umesh Pandey, and Gauri Malla, among others.

Produced by Jayanti Creation and Underground Talkies Nepal, the film also features an international producing team from France, Germany, Brazil, and Norway. Filmmakers Min Bham and Prabesh Gurung, actor Keki Adhikari, and several other Nepali producers have contributed to the project.

Shah previously earned recognition at Cannes for his short film Lori and is known for writing acclaimed projects, including Kalo Pothi, Shambhala, and Singha Durbar.
