KATHMANDU: A squatter settlement in Machhapokhari, Kathmandu, has been cleared by its residents after the government announced plans to deploy bulldozers in all informal settlements across the Kathmandu Valley starting Friday.

Anticipating the demolition, residents began moving their belongings on Thursday, working to vacate the area before authorities arrive.
