KATHMANDU: The BP Highway has reopened after being closed since Saturday due to flooding. Continuous rainfall caused a rise in the Roshi River, washing away temporary diversions along the under-construction highway, disrupting traffic between Chaukidada and Nepalthok.

The diversion was rebuilt on Sunday, briefly restoring movement for stranded vehicles, but was again damaged later due to fresh rainfall.

According to the Bhaktapur Road Division Office, repair work resumed early Monday morning, and the highway was reopened by around 3 PM.

The highway had suffered major damage in previous floods, with about 28 km of road between Bhakunde and Nepalthok destroyed, and reconstruction work is still ongoing in sections.
