KATHMANDU: Dozers have been mobilized since 10 AM to clear encroached government land belonging to the High Court Butwal in Butwal. With the operation underway, authorities have begun removing huts, shops, and other temporary structures in the area.
The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City launched the campaign at the request of the High Court. The land lies north of JCC Chowk in Ward No. 4 of Butwal.
After receiving prior notice about the demolition, business owners and occupants were seen early in the morning relocating their belongings and vacating the area.
Officials stated that the land had been used for years through the construction of houses, shops, and buildings belonging to various organizations. The sub-metropolitan office said the campaign aims to remove encroachments and protect public property.
Although several attempts had been made in the past to reclaim the court’s land, they were not successfully implemented. This time, with dozers deployed from early morning, activity in the area has significantly increased. Photo: Nepal Photo Library
