BIRGUNJ: A five-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident that occurred on Saturday at Narayani Hospital.

Following the death of 45-year-old Rajkumar Patel of Birgunj Metropolitan City-25 during treatment in the hospital’s emergency ward, his relatives staged a protest, alleging that his death was caused by negligence on the part of the doctors and hospital administration.

The relatives claimed that he passed away because his oxygen support was removed while transferring him.

The investigation committee comprises Administrative Officer Binay Kumar Ram from the District Administration Office, Parsa; Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh from Narayani Hospital; Ward Chairman of Birgunj Metropolitan City-25 Ashutosh Chaturvedi; Bikas Patel, representing the deceased’s family; and Sunil Kumar Rauniyar, representing the hospital administration.

A Police Inspector from the District Police Office, Parsa, serves as the coordinator of the committee.

Pending the submission of the investigation report, the hospital administration has relieved five healthcare workers involved in the treatment during the incident from their official duties.

Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Parsa, Kishor Lamsal, stated that the committee will submit its report within one week, and necessary action will be taken against anyone found guilty based on the findings.
