TEHRAN: The United States has launched targeted airstrikes against Iranian positions in direct response to a recent Iranian drone attack on a commercial cargo ship in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
In a swift counter-response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it has struck multiple locations across the region where US military forces are currently deployed, significantly escalating military tensions.
Meanwhile, on the diplomatic front, Israel and Lebanon have signed a historic, US-brokered “framework agreement” that Washington claims aims to finally end the region’s cycle of endless conflict.
However, the fragile peace deal faces immediate internal resistance, as the Lebanese group Hezbollah has flatly rejected the accord, with one lawmaker stating the agreement will ultimately serve only the interests of Israel.
