KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered 58 disaster incidents across Nepal in the past 24 hours, prompting local administrations to issue high-alert warnings in vulnerable areas.
According to Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Abi Narayan Kafle, the recent disasters claimed three lives—two drowning victims in Khotang and one snakebite casualty in Dolakha—while leaving 13 injured and causing an estimated Rs 2.36 million in property damages.
This latest spell contributes to a severe disaster season since mid-April 2026, which has already recorded 168 deaths, 994 injuries, two missing persons, and over 3,400 separate incidents nationwide.
