KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Shradda Shrestha emphasized on all-side contributions to build violence-free society by reducing violence against women in the society.

At a programme held at the Ministry today, she highlighted the need of assuring senior citizens their rights along with alleviating violence against women and children.

Noting that changes have brought in structures as a result of various political struggles waged in different time period, Minister Shrestha underlined the urgency of positive change of the society in the outlook towards women.

Rehabilitation programme has been advanced for rescuing street-based and helpless children, she said, calling for all concerned to initiate a new social campaign to avert untouchability, superstition and harmful practices.

On the occasion, Minister Shrestha was also given a farewell, as the new government is about to be sworn-in in a few days.
