KATHMANDU: The newly appointed vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, officially assumed office today, at the vice chancellor’s office of Tribhuvan university (TU) in Kirtipur.
Dr. Thapa, who previously served as the vice chancellor of Kathmandu university, is a highly distinguished figure in the academic arena. He has made remarkable contributions to the advancement of higher education and research in Nepal. Having earlier delivered exceptional service in several pivotal leadership roles, including registrar and dean of the school of engineering at Kathmandu university, the newly appointed vice chancellor has also earned widespread recognition as an accomplished scholar in hydraulic machinery and energy systems. Prof. Dr. Thapa earned his doctoral degree from the Norwegian university of science and technology.
Briefly addressing the gathering upon assuming office, he expressed his unwavering commitment to elevate Tribhuvan university—a historic institution rich in physical and human resources with a distinct global identity—into an even more excellent center of learning by actively incorporating the insights, feedback, and cooperation of all stakeholders.
The assumption-of-office ceremony was attended by the outgoing vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya, acting rector Prof. Dr. Shankar Prasad Khanal, and acting registrar Prof. Dr. Mahananda Chalise. Deans from various institutes and faculties, executive directors of research centers, directors, division heads, professors, administrative staff, and students were also present to mark the occasion.
