KATHMANDU: Gen Z Movement Nepal has called on the government to immediately dismiss Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.
The demand comes after reports surfaced alleging Gurung’s business partnership with controversial businessman Deepak Bhatta. In a statement, the movement’s spokesperson Bijay Shah urged authorities to remove Gurung from his post, arrest him, and carry out an impartial investigation into the serious allegations.
The statement argues that allowing Gurung to remain in office could influence the investigation process and represents a clear conflict of interest. It further emphasizes that being investigated while holding a ministerial position goes against basic ethical and legal principles.
The movement insists that Gurung’s resignation is essential to ensure fair justice.
Additionally, the statement calls on Prime Minister Balendra Shah to demonstrate maturity, foresight, and accountability. It criticizes what it describes as arbitrary appointments and removals of ministers, calling such practices unacceptable and lacking dignity.
The movement also noted that the current government represents the mandate earned through the sacrifice of 76 martyrs, stressing that no one has the right to engage in cheap politics at the expense of public sacrifice.
Finally, it warned that any compromise or delay in ensuring good governance, transparency, and accountability would not be tolerated.
