KATHMANDU: During Friday’s House of Representatives session, Nepali Congress lawmaker Khadka Bahadur Budha strongly objected to allegations that Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) officials were detained at the Prime Minister’s Office for nine hours and pressured to issue arrest warrants.
Questioning if an invisible cartel is establishing a lawless regime within Singha Durbar, Budha emphasized that the CIAA is an independent constitutional body meant to monitor the government, not a subordinate department.
He also demanded to know who the “sunglasses-wearing gang” dictating these actions is while stressing that even corrupt Nepali Congress leaders must face action.
Meanwhile, Shram Sanskriti Party Chairman Harka Sampang expressed deep frustration that both the Speaker and the government have ignored his month-long protests and 16-day placard demonstration demanding the removal of an allegedly anti-national statement made by the Prime Minister.
Questioning whether Nepal belongs to “stones or human beings” due to the absolute lack of accountability, Sampang warned that the growing culture of leadership ignoring public and parliamentary concerns has reached an astonishing and deeply concerning level.
