KATHMANDU: Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol has left for France to attend the 79th Cannes Film Festival at the invitation of Cannes Mayor David Lisnard.

She will participate in various festival sessions and is scheduled to return on May 22.

Kathmandu and Cannes are both UNESCO Creative Cities Network members in the film category.

During the visit, Dangol will also attend meetings with festival officials and city representatives.

This year, Nepali filmmaker Abinash Bikram Shah’s “Elephant in the Fog” is also being screened at the festival.
