KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) is holding a Secretariat meeting today at Chair KP Oli’s residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, at 1 pm, according to central office secretary Dr. Bhishma Adhikari.

The meeting is expected to review the results of the March 5 House of Representatives election and discuss division of responsibilities within the party.

The meeting is being closely watched as pressure mounts on Oli to step down from party leadership following the UML’s poor election performance.

The UML has so far failed to formally review its electoral defeat due to the absence of party meetings.

Oli was arrested on March 28 for investigation into the Gen Z protest incident, a day after a government led by Balen Shah was formed.

Oli has remained largely inactive in official party affairs as he continues to recover after undergoing gallbladder surgery.
