SANKHUWASABHA: Property worth approximately Rs 1.5 million was destroyed after a fire broke out at the house of Lhakpa Sherpa in Madi Municipality-3, Thamekhark, last night.

According to Inspector Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi, Acting Chief of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, the blaze completely engulfed Sherpa’s three-story house while he was asleep.

The fire destroyed Rs 50,000 in cash, two tolas of gold, kitchen utensils, clothing, and a significant stock of food grains, including 30 muri of potatoes, three muri of paddy, and four muri of maize.

While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Sudesh Chaudhari from the Mangalabare Police Post was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving the information.
