KATHMANDU: Authorities have banned vehicle movement on the BP Highway from 5 PM to 5 AM until further notice, citing safety concerns.
A District Security Committee meeting in Kavrepalanchok decided to enforce the restriction along the Bhakunde–Khurkot section of the highway, which connects Kathmandu with eastern hill and Terai districts.
Officials said the decision was taken due to risks from nighttime travel, including possible flooding in the Roshi River and adverse weather conditions. The restriction may also be tightened or relaxed depending on weather and risk assessments.
The move follows recent incidents, consultations between Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli authorities, and directives from the disaster management authority.
