KATHMANDU: After showcasing her talent in Bollywood, actress Kangana Ranaut is now set to embark on her journey to Hollywood. She is joining the league of stars like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.
She also has a Hollywood film in the works, in which she will be sharing the screen with Scarlett Stallone and Tyler Posey. The title of the horror-drama is Blessed Be the Evil.

According to report, the shooting of the film will start this summer in New York. The cast and crew are scouting locations currently.

Kangana’s recent films have all bombed at the box office. Her latest release this year, Emergency, had a poor outing at the box office as well, although it received critical appreciation. Despite the positive reviews, audiences did not turn up at theaters. In this context, Kangana has now turned her attention to Hollywood.

Interestingly, a few years ago, Kangana stated that she would never work in a Hollywood film. In a 2017 interview with Mid-Day, she even called actors working in Hollywood “foolish.”

She said, “At this point, going west (to Hollywood) would be foolish for anyone. Due to the rise of the digital media, their cinema operation is crumbling down. Asia is, however, at the same phase where Hollywood was 15 years back. It is an extremely good period for entertainment here (in Bollywood). I shall not yield to such temptations.”

She further said, “If an American film is earning ₹100 crores and our films cannot, then even after 10 years, we won’t be able to secure enough screens for domestic films. I support world cinema, but it should be the kind of film that brings employment and money to our country. I don’t want to serve on someone else’s plate.”

During the promotion of her film Thalaivii in Delhi, Kangana also remarked, “We need to discourage American and English films because they are occupying our screens. We must act as a nation.”

Now, Kangana herself is preparing for her Hollywood debut. Blessed Be the Evil is being directed by Anurag Rudra. The story is based on traditional Indian folklore set against a Western backdrop. However, no details about Kangana’s role have been revealed yet.
