KATHMANDU: A Nepali film ‘Red Passport’ is set to be produced. It is said that the film will portray the story of the struggle of Nepalis who have reached European countries with the aim of obtaining citizenship (red passports) there.
Produced by Seabirds Pictures and Hope’s Buzz and produced in collaboration with Trident Concepts, the film is directed by Simson Tamang. The story of the film is written by Michael Tamang, while the screenplay and dialogues are prepared by Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary.
A few days ago, the construction team posted on social media, “Everyone says – you will settle down after going there. Your family’s future will be secure. You will get a red passport…!” However, the official construction announcement was made only on Sunday, with the release of a minimal poster. The theme of the poster has been prepared in the style of the cover page of the passport of the European country Portugal.
Lok Bahadur Tamang is the producer of ‘Rato Passport’ and Pravesh Poudel will be the executive producer. Poudel had previously directed the films ‘America Boys’ and ‘Bihe Paas’.
The film’s technical team includes Amrit Marhatta for makeup and SFX, Rabindra Neupane as cinematographer, and Jayan J. Waiba as music composer. Poster and publicity design will be done by Royal Bhimsen (Trident Concept Team).
Director Simson Tamang has been active in the Nepali film industry as an action director and chief assistant action director for a long time. He has worked as a chief assistant action director in Nepali action films such as ‘Bouncer’, ‘Body Guard’, ‘Love Sab’, ‘Madhumas’, ‘Black Flag’, ‘Killa’, ‘Aishwarya’, ‘Radhe’, ‘Rudra’, ‘Pinjada Back Again’ in 2013. Similarly, he has worked as an action director in films such as ‘Dhanya Maya Jaal’, ‘Asur The Mystery’ (Hindi) and ‘Lappan Chappan 2’.
The film’s cast and crew members will be selected from Nepal soon, the production side has said. In addition, there are plans to select actors in Europe and the UK through auditions, said executive producer Prabhe Poudel. The film will be shot in Portugal, some other European countries, and Nepal.
