KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said the film bill, prepared to amend and integrate laws related to film, would be introduced soon.
At the National Film Prize and Award distribution ceremony organised by Film Development Board at the Office of the President on Monday, Minister Gurung mentioned that the bill, tabled in the National Assembly, would be introduced with suggestion and consultation of all sides concerned.
He pointed out the need of publicizing the country’s natural beauty and cultural diversity through films.
Minister Gurung opined that there would be contribution of film in gross domestic product if it could be established as industry.
“Film can create employment along with publicity if it is developed as an industry. It can help make the country prosperous by contributing to the economy. We believe that our activities including construction of film studio, film act will help establish film sector as an industry”, he said.
On the occasion, different awards including Film Lifetime Achievement Award, Film Award were presented as well as 10 people were honoured for their contribution to the film sector.
Likewise, a film technician was honoured posthumously.
