KATHMANDU: Following the resignation of Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Rajkumar Gupta on Tuesday, CPN-UML leader Surya Thapa has demanded a fair and thorough investigation into the bribery allegations, stressing the need to establish the truth.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Thapa said Gupta’s resignation indicates the gravity of the issue and the public pressure demanding accountability.
He called for an immediate investigation to determine who is involved in the controversial audio recording linked to the bribery case.
“No one proven guilty should be spared,” Thapa stated, urging authorities to investigate everyone involved—whether they are lobbyists, middlemen, corrupt officials, or fraudsters.
He further said, “Are the voices in the audio real or fake? Is it a genuine recording or a technological manipulation? The state’s investigative agencies must act immediately.
Anyone speaking in the leaked audio must be taken into custody and investigated so that the truth can be clearly established.”
