KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate for Rupandehi-3 by-election, Dr. Lekhjung Thapa, has admitted that he married twice but clarified that one of the marriages legally ended in divorce.

Thapa said his personal life was neither illegal nor problematic and accused critics of targeting his party through personal attacks.

He made public the divorce documents and stressed his commitment to shared parenting of his child.

Thapa, a neurosurgeon with 14 years of experience, recently entered politics, saying he wants to be part of a campaign for transformative change.

He stated that he had already informed the party about his personal life and that the party had taken legal consultation before finalizing his candidacy.

He added that while relationships may break, children’s future should not be harmed, and emphasized his determination to work for the country’s transformation through clean politics.
