KATHMANDU: Opposition parties convened a meeting at Singha Durbar on Tuesday in response to the violent crackdown on Gen-Z protests.
Leaders from parliamentary opposition parties except Rastriya Swatantra Party, attended and collectively demanded the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The opposition criticized the government for failing to recognize and address the concerns of protesting youths, calling the recent deaths during the demonstrations “unacceptable.”
The meeting also urged the formation of an independent commission to investigate the incidents and recommended strict action against those responsible.
Opposition leaders stressed that the spontaneous Gen Z movement should not be politicized and reaffirmed their commitment to resolving issues through dialogue and parliamentary mechanisms.
