KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress party has strongly condemned and denounced the violent attack on party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders. Party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat issued a press release today, expressing sorrow over the unfortunate incident that occurred during a protest organized by the new youth generation.
Expressing wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured, he has expressed serious concern over the significant loss of life and property during the protests. The party has emphasized the need for immediate dialogue with other parties committed to democracy and the constitution.
The Congress has also stated that it is essential to actively engage in the dialogue and initiatives led by the President for restoration of peace, security, constitutional order, and democratic processes. Referring to the vandalism, arson, and violent activities that took place across the country on Tuesday, the party noted that such actions are certainly not what the committed youth want for the country, the people, and democracy.
