KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has expressed anger over comments made by party General Secretary Gagan Thapa.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday morning at his burned house in Maharajgunj, Mahat made these remarks.

Mahat’s objection came in response to Thapa raising the demand for a leadership change in the party on social media and in party meetings following the Gen Z movement.

Without directly naming Thapa, Mahat expressed his outrage, saying, “What does it mean to say that not even a moment should pass once the new situation arises? When there is a violent attack on a guardian, can we wait even for treatment?”

He also said it was wrong to claim that something would be fine today but not tomorrow. He informed that he would visit the hospital today to check on Deuba’s health condition.

At the same press conference, Mahat also commented that the interim government could not be formed in accordance with the constitution.

He said it was unfortunate that a government could not be established through Parliament, despite the possibility.

Mahat stated, “The interim government has been formed. It could have been made constitutional. Unfortunately, that did not happen. It could have been approved through Parliament, but it wasn’t.”

He described the recent movement and political developments as an attack on the democratic system. He also expressed objection to the firing incidents that occurred during the demonstrations on September 8 and 9.
