KANCHANPUR: People from Raute community are disappointed after they did not get social security allowance even for Dashain festival.
They have not got social security allowance since the beginning of the current fiscal year. Sharing that the main source of their income is the allowance provided by the government, Bud Singh Raute of Bhimdutta municiality-9 in Kanchanpur expressed sheer unhappiness for being deprived of allowance even for the biggest festival, Dashain.
He shared they were unable to buy food grains, cooking oil and other necessary goods on time. “My wife and I used to get Rs 24,000. We utilize the money to celebrate festivals. But this time, we did not get the stipend,” Bud Singh explained.
The government shifted Raute community to villages from jungle and there is no condition to get timber either to produce wooden objects, according to Kiri Devi Raute. Wooden pots could be sold if we were in the jungle, Kiri Devi wailed. She viewed, “One of my sons has gone to India to earn money. He works in India for nine months and stays home for three months. We hardly have become able to manage the expenses from his income.”
In this connection, Chairperson of Bhimdutta municipality-9, Gagan Singh Karki, admitted that the local level was not provided the social security allowance entitled to Raute community this year.
Earlier, social security allowance used to be renewed within Bhandra month and the allowance used to be provided before Dashain.
Karki added that 20 Rautes of this ward are receiving the allowance. All members of Raute community get social security allowance every month.
