KATHMANDU: Leaders close to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba have issued a joint statement, opposing the demand for a special party convention.
The statement emphasizes the need for internal unity within the party, particularly in light of recent attacks targeting President Deuba and his wife, Arzu Rana Deuba.
The leaders noted that calls for a special convention at this time, especially driven by the Shekhar–Gagan faction seeking leadership change, are inappropriate.
Signatories of the statement also reiterated their demand for the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, stressing that party cohesion should take precedence over internal elections.
