KATHMANDU: Three major Nepali films, Balidan, Maitighar, and Hari Bahadur Ko Jutta, which premiered during the Dashain festival, have had their one-week revenue remain unverified.

The Film Development Board (FDB) ceased publishing official box office reports due to a public industry dispute over the figures.

Despite the lack of official weekly data, all production teams asserted commercial success based on initial performance.

The FDB two-day figures confirmed Balidan led the collection, grossing Rs 10.56 million from 244 shows.

The film’s distributor confirmed good business and promised to release final figures soon.

The comedy-drama Hari Bahadur Ko Jutta followed, collecting Rs 5.95 million from 134 shows. Its producer claimed daily improvement and noted the film’s unexpected competition against the Indian release Kantara: Chapter 1.

By the seventh day, the show count for the Hari Bahadur Ko Jutta notably increased to 117, surpassing its rivals.

Similarly, the movie Maitighar earned Rs 3.86 million from 144 shows. Its producer publicly asserted strong provincial business, leading to a planned promotional tour for the actors in western Nepal.

The FDB stopped releasing data after the Maitighar producer publicly accused the Board of arbitrarily handling box office figures and demanded the FDB Chairman’s resignation, raising significant transparency concerns over the festive season’s performance.
