Government announces decisions of Cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU: The government has made public the decisions of its cabinet meeting held on October 9, announced by Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel at a press conference on Friday.

The cabinet approved measures for reconstruction and repair of public infrastructure damaged during the September 8-9 protests, relief and economic rehabilitation for affected people, resumption of public services, and arrangements for the House of Representatives election.

It also authorized the reallocation of funds within the approved budget for the current fiscal year to meet special circumstances caused by disasters, without any limit on the amount that can be reallocated for such projects.

Additionally, the cabinet decided to promote Nepal Police Deputy Inspectors General Sushil Singh Rathore, Umaprasad Chaturvedi, Himalayakumar Shrestha, and Dambar Bahadur Bishwakarma to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police, assigning them to the Crime Investigation Department, Operations Department, Administration Department, and Provincial Coordination Department, respectively.

The government also declared Ilam district a disaster-affected area for a period of three months.
