Winter rainfall in many places including Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Various parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley experienced rainfall today. Kathmandu received 2.2 mm of rain while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur received 4.8 mm of rain this afternoon.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division, Surkhet received the highest rainfall of 43 mm in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, Sheragaun in Rukum received 38 mm of rain and Jajarkot received 33 mm of rain. Baitadi received 35.6 mm of rain, Dadeldhura 33.2 mm, Bajura 30.2 mm, Manang 32.4 mm and Dolpa received 31 mm of rain.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall has also occurred in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the western Nepal.

Meteorologist Barun Poudel said that the weather system is gradually moving eastward, but there is less rainfall in the Tarai and Koshi. This system will weaken from tonight and will gradually become clear. However, cold will increase as the weather will remain cloudy for a few days.

Tonight, there will be partial clouds in the hilly and mountainous areas and the weather will remain mainly clear in the rest of the country.

There is a possibility of light snowfall and rainfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.

On Thursday, there will be mist and fog in many places in the Tarai region. Meteorologist Poudel said that there will be partial cloud cover in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the weather will remain mainly clear in the remaining areas.
