MYAGDI: Construction of the 25 megawatt Darbang Myagdikhola Hydropower Project has resumed after a month-long halt triggered by local protests over delayed bridge construction.

Residents of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality had obstructed work since January 9, demanding progress on a motorable bridge at Dangkhol, six years after a Rs 19.3 million contract was signed in June 2019. Local leaders withdrew the agitation after assurances the bridge would begin within the current fiscal year.

The project, promoted by Dhaulagiri Kalika Hydro Limited, has pledged to expedite construction following legal procedures.
