KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Scotland by seven wickets in their fourth match under the ongoing T-20 World Cup in Mumbai, India, on Tuesday evening. Earlier, after restricting Scotland to 170 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Nepal won the match in the 20th over with seven wickets remaining.
With this, Nepal have won a world cup match after 12 years.
Dipendra Singh Airee was Nepal’s highest scorer with 50 runs off 23 balls. Airee’s innings included three sixes and four fours.
Nepal’s Gulshan Jha hit the winning shot, a four, for the team. Jha made 24 runs off 17 balls. Both Airee and Jha were not out.
Nepal’s opener Kushal Bhurtel hit 43 runs off 35 balls. His innings included one four and four sixes.
Similarly, the other opener Aasif Sheikh scored 33 runs off 27 balls, including two sixes.
Captain Rohit Paudel hit 16 runs off 14 balls.

In the last group stage match held under the ICC Twenty20 Cricket World Cup, Nepal decided to bowl first after winning the toss and then restricted Scotland to 170 in 20 overs, taking 7 wickets.
For Scotland, Michael Jones top-scored with 71 runs in 45 runs followed by George Munsey who scored 27 runs in 29 balls. In addition, Brandon McMullen contributed 25 runs off 19 balls.
For the bowling side, Sompal Kami took 3 wickets in 4 overs, giving away 25 runs while Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets. Captain Rohit Paudel and Kushal Bhurtel took 1 wicket each.
Both Nepal and Scotland have been eliminated from the tournament after failing to come out in the top two of their group.
Nepal’s Airee was dclared the man of the match.
