KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office Kathmandu has barred the construction of stages for musical programs and the organization of fairs or festivals during this year’s Holi, citing election security concerns.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Mukti Ram Rijal, public gatherings on roads and open spaces, alcohol sales and consumption, and any activity violating the Election Code of Conduct are prohibited. Authorities warned that Holi celebrations must not be used for election campaigning.

The notice also bans clothing, accessories, or materials displaying election symbols or candidate images. For safety and dignity, forcing colors, vermilion powder, or water balloons on anyone has likewise been prohibited.
