KATHMANDU: The budget session of the House of Representatives began on Monday at the new Parliament building in Singha Durbar.

From the very start of the meeting, opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), and the Shram Sanskriti Party, stood up and obstructed the proceedings, expressing their protest in the House.

Lawmakers, including Harkaraj Rai, were among those who took part in the disruption.

The obstruction came immediately after the session commenced, prompting Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to request the protesting members to withdraw their objection and allow the House to proceed.

He reminded the members that the allocated “urgent time” had already been set in the agenda.

Following the Speaker’s appeal, the protesting lawmakers eventually softened their stance, and the House of Representatives meeting resumed its regular proceedings.
