Nepal’s remittance inflow surges 39.1% to Rs 1.66 trillion in nine months

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s remittance inflow increased by 39.1 percent to Rs 1.659 trillion during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, according to data released by the Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday.

During the same period last fiscal year, remittance inflow had grown by 10.2 percent.

From mid-March to Mid-April, 2026, Nepal received Rs 209.75 billion in remittances, compared to Rs 139.54 billion in the same one month period last year.

In US dollar terms, remittance inflow rose by 31.9 percent to USD 11.55 billion during the review period.

Such inflows had increased by 7.5 percent in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Net secondary income (net transfers) reached Rs 1.820 trillion during the review period, up from Rs 1.303 trillion in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of Nepalis obtaining final labour approval for foreign employment (institutional and individual-new) stood at 294,186, while 293,259 received renewed labour approval during the review period.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the numbers stood at 358,222 and 249,652 respectively.
