KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting remained stalled for more than one hour on Wednesday (May 13) despite being initially adjourned for just 15 minutes, as opposition parties continued their obstruction demanding that Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) personally respond to questions raised over the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year.

Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had suspended the session after repeated protests disrupted proceedings inside the House. However, parliamentary activities had yet to resume even after the extended delay.

Opposition lawmakers accused Prime Minister Balen of evading parliamentary accountability by failing to appear during deliberations on the government’s annual policies and programs. Tensions escalated after opposition members insisted that no other minister should answer on the prime minister’s behalf.

The deadlock has intensified pressure inside Parliament, with opposition parties continuing to demand clarification on the Prime Minister’s absence from the crucial legislative session.
